Because you've never been a taxpayer in the U.K.

My friend and colleague J Craig Fong is fond of the statement of the King of Siam in "The King And I": "It is a puzzlement."

I think of Harry Belafonte singing in "Man Piaba": It was clear as mud; and it covered the ground; the confusion made my mind go round."

OP is entitled to calm and clarity. A good lawyer may provide that.

Or perhaps a very expensive shiatsu massage...

I see you stopped claiming the OP "needs" to stay out and learn the "rules" anymore. That's much better.

My work here is done....

They let you in

They let you in for the time requested

It is likely that your file has been annotated and that subsequent Inspectors will be aware of what was said to you, their call as to what happens next.

So:

An attorney can give the OP advice that is tailored to the OP's specific needs and circumstances.

An attorney should also know the appropriate questions to ask the OP to get as full a picture as possible of what those needs and circumstances really are. This may include information that the OP has not disclosed (or does not wish to disclose) in a public forum.

A good bit if this thread just appears to be argumentative and beligerent.

I'd stay away from the US for a while, but multiple visits each year of 1-2 weeks us hardly excessive.

I suspect, as others noted, that the OP might have rubbed the CBP officer up the wrong way. I would recommend being happy and relaxed, but confining interaction at the immigration desk to answering only the questions asked (honestly, of course), and very limited pleasantries, such as responding to a greeting, and thanking the officer when he hands your passport back.
