Unusual research visa query. Advice most welcomed:)
Dear All
I have been one of those 'lurkers' on here for many years - so finally thought I better post.
I have a random question, I have tried to Google it and the usual but to no avail!
I am currently applying to do my PhD in the UK - but I would very much like to do a USA/UK comparative analysis study on my topic. I have contacted several organisations in USA who are willing to provide me data to help with my thesis but understandably I will need to spend significant time out in the USA researching my topic. It won't be linked to any American University so I am truly at a lost as to what avenue I go down? Do I just go via ESTA or another type of visa?
I do not plan on staying in America (unless I get an incredible job offer
Haha) but I think it would be an incredible research project not done before.

I would use the VWP.
