If i am travelling as a British Citizen Passport holder to New York for 12 days in December do i need to apply for any visa's?

Unless you have complicating factors (have previously arrested (not necessarily in the US) or have been previously refused a US visa, or overstayed on a previous visit to the US), you should be eligible, per Ray's link, above, for "ESTA", leading to the Visa Waiver Program.

The VWP allows you to visit the US for recreational purposes, and some limited business purposes, for a period of your choosing up to, but NOT EXCEEDING 90 days.

Go to the link Ray provided, answer all questions honestly, and if ESTA comes back approved, then you can travel without a visa.
