Hi Tweety23
That does seem a long time . I had my interview on 1st December and waited 27 weeks I submitted passport on 8th June but it has been held up in the visa printing delay which is now resolved.
I finally received an email today to say passport has been passed to the courier company with delivery tomorrow.
I think you need to try emailing the embassy and check your junk email in case you have missed the notification.

Good luck it's so stressful waiting

Wow! That's a long time, was that 38 weeks until you received the email or got your passport back?

Thanks for your response, it is stressful as we were hoping to travel in August. I'm sure the recent delays will only add to wait times... Glad to hear you're sorted and your passport is on the way!

Thanks Just Rite, 38 weeks is a long time, I had thought that our wait was unusual but perhaps that isn't the case. Was that your first recommendation for a waiver?

Guys, quick question.

I'm about to apply for my Visa - on the website application form it asks for where i am staying/going/why I'm going etc.

I'm actually looking to apply speculatively as I've just taken a job at a very well known American technology firm - I'm hoping to get a Visa organised now rather than potentially miss any meeting in the US as my police caution will deem me inadmissible.

Is this allowed, or do I have to input a specific reason and date?

Thanks

If you're going for a B-1/2 visa, no - you can make up a reason and date.

Thank you for the reply.

Frustrating to say the least. 21 days from today I sent my passport to the embassy, sent with royal mail special delivery....they updated to administrative processing on the 24th June....which by next Friday the 17th July.....they'll have had my passport for 29 days.

We are due to fly Friday the 17th - not to America.

At this point I just want my passport back, the visa can wait lol !

Goodness that's terrible!
I'm keeping an eye on passport turnaround times as we still await the email (almost 36 weeks after interview!) - Thinking we now need to abandon our plans... You would think that 9 months would be adequate but it seems it isn't - It's all very frustrating!
I hope you get sorted ASAP.

For me....from appointment to THAT email was a day less than 24 weeks.

Plenty of people and posts on here warning about not booking flights prior to having the passport in your hand.....though for the visa to be issued....wouldn't have thought a 2 day wait would turn into a global system crash with a 21 days and counting wait lol.

I've emailed the embassy stressing the importance of receiving my passport back regardless of the visa but still....no such luck.... what's worse is my family have spent THOUSANDS too.....im sort of avoiding phone calls at the moment!
