Default LOST UK Paspport/L2 Visa - Can he travel in USA?

Hi all,

My husband and I moved to NYC last week on UK passports with an L1 and L2 visa. 5 days in my husband lost his passport with the L2 inside :-(

We have reported it and are working on the replacement process but my question is - can he can travel in the USA on his New Zealand passport?

I have heavy national work travel over the next three months and our plan was for him to come with while we wait for his EAD...

Praying for some positive answers/advice.

Many thanks in advance!

Courtney

Yes, for domestic travel he just needs a government-issued photo ID, which his NZ passport is.

Just dont go to Puerto Rico or USVI without the visa. We had to provide proof of visa at aircraft door on return to US mainland. Hawaii could be the same too

Hi Noorah,

Thank you for your reply!

That is amazing - do you think we will have trouble with the customs officers asking why he entered two weeks prior on the UK passport/L2 and is now on the NZ Passport?

If so, do you have any advice to prepare for that?

Thank you again for your help :-)

Where will you see customs if you are travelling domestically?

No customs involved in domestic flights.

You won't see a customs officer and, even more importantly, you won't see an immigration officer either! Customs is for belongings... immigration is for people.
