Just to echo what others have said - if might not be 'a straight no' but honestly, it might as well be. It isn't going to happen for you.

On the face of it, the businesses don't sound like they'd bring in enough to "pay" your way in on their own. If your Son is that good though, do you have any options to raise funds via corporate sponsorship, enabling you to get a Visa based on investment in the USA. Maybe something to work towards in the coming few years.

The answer to the question is obviously E-2, he could put enough money into a window-cleaning business to qualify and the wife would get an EAD so could carry on doing what she does now.

The problem is the child gets E-2 dependent and can't work and ages out at 21, but if he happens to be a really excellent golfer, he could get a scholarship and go to university on F-1 and if he's really really good could possibly get EB-1.

Coincidentally I had a friend who got a scholarship for golf and went to the US on F-1. Also know a realtor who got into the US on EB-1 because of her LGPA background.

Not sure if window cleaning is much of a business in the US though, they do exist but not like in the UK.

I thought he was principally a window cleaner, not sure he was looking to set up a window cleaning business employing others.

I could see that such a business could meet the E2 requirements, trucks, ladders, etc.

The OP said he would sell his window cleaning round - which implies he has a window cleaning business. Don't know if he currently has any staff working for him.

To obtain an E-2 investment visa is one not looking at something like $150K + ?

If the OP has this sort of money then this could be a possible route?

I always thought "selling a window cleaning round" was nothing more than selling an address book of clients to someone else and letting all the customers know that you're no longer going to be doing their windows but you can recommend "Bob" and you've passed their details to him.

Yes, most window cleaners in UK are one man bands but there are quite a few franchises and independent businesses around. Our old window cleaner - ladder and bucket - packed up because he could not afford the "new" pole washing equipment to reach over conservatories etc to clean the upper storeys. Replaced him with a local firm who employed 6 guys with vans and pole units. did a super job , including the conservatory roof for approx £15 a month. The only days they did not work was when it was below freezing. They even cleaned windows in the rain! Doubt there is much of a market in the US partly due to the price you'd have to charge plus other factors already mentioned.

If the guy doing the round is self employed and pays his own taxes, it could still be termed as a business.

I have my own business, do not currently have any employees, I would have though anybody who is not working for the man but is working has their own business.
