More movement for us! steveq's file was presumably touched by somebody last week as we received this update "we updated your date of birth for your Form I-XXX" for several of his forms. Then this week his EAD card was ordered.

At last! Yesterday we received the update we have been waiting for: "On August 2, 2017, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number LIN17XXXXXXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us." This should be steveq's green card and now we wait for the rest of us to receive similar good news and for #1q son's file to arrive at the consulate in London for his IV via I-824. Coincidentally yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of Steveq and the q boys arriving in the US on their O-1/O-3 visas.

This all seems a bit ar$e about tit as in the wee small hours I received this notification: "On August 3, 2017, we approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number LIN17XXXXXXXX" also for steveq's application. Not that I'm complaining, just noting that the card was ordered a day before the approval. I know not to try to make sense of the way USCIS operates

Yea I don't get it either. It seems the updates go this way: card ordered, approval and then card mailed. It could be that their system orders the card and then creates the approval notice letter.

FWIW, data entry and adjudication often do not happen concurrently.

First the simple update, steveq is now a card carrying LPR - his GC arrived on Tuesday.

I have received an easy to remedy RFE - my societies and organisations section was left blank, and neither we nor the immigration attorneys picked up on that. Should be sorted out by submission of a notarised affidavit. Luckily one of the ladies where Steve works is a notary.

Younger son has all sorts of stuff to sort out as the immigration attorneys instructed Steve to sign his forms even though #2 q boy was over 14 at the time of the application. Essentially everything needs to be newly signed by #2 q boy and sent back. Also need to go back to the civil surgeon to get the I-693 resigned and sealed. Hope this doesn't cause too much delay for him. I am annoyed as I did query at least part of this back in December.

An object lesson: Trust your own common sense! Even with an attorney, you are still responsible to ensure that everything is completed properly.

Yes, I know, I should have been more on the ball and pushier. At least it is all fixable with fresh signatures, and in blue ink as USCIS also claim that the I-693 civil surgeon's signature is photocopied, and as that was in a sealed envelope I didn't get to see that.....

Once it is all in the mail it will be back to the waiting game. Just hope the I-824 bit goes quickly enough for our elder son to get his IV before he returns home for Christmas.

The RFEs were relatively simple to fulfill (though a complete new I-693 had to be prepared by the civil surgeon as the form edition had changed ) the signed & notarised (where necessary) documents have gone back to the immigration attorney and are now back in the hands of USCIS. My case tracker didn't even show that an RFE had been raised, though it does now show receipt of the requested evidence.

Still no updates on the I-824 for elder son who is now back in the UK after his summer vacation. I think this may go to NVC before being sent on the the London Consulate, but time will tell.

Back to waiting......

Thumbs up Re: I-140 approved, timescale for rest of process including follow-to-join ?

Yesterday younger q son and I received our green cards. Phew! The I-824 Action form has been approved for elder q son so that is also welcome news. My mum has been forewarned that elder son should receive some form of correspondence delivered to her address although it is still a bit of a black hole regarding exactly how his file now progresses. Time will tell and I will continue to update as events occur.
