How long can I stay in the US?
Hi, can anyone tell me or point me to where I can find out how long I can stay in the US for in a year if I own property there? I am a British citizen. Thanks:)

Owning property won't help you. If you want to visit as a tourist only, you are pretty much limited to visits of 90 days or less on the VWP. More information from you = more possibilities for answers. |
Re: How long can I stay in the US?
Up to 90 days in one go on the visa waiver program. Up to 6 months at a time if you get a B-2 visa. There is no total amount of time per year, you could potentially be sent back home the very first time you try and visit. Having a house doesn't help, it may actually hurt.

Re: How long can I stay in the US?
My husband can retire from the RAF in just under 2 years and we are currently looking at different options. We doubt we would be able to work in the US so wondered how long we could stay if we bought a property. I thought it might be 3-6 months per year but as I can see from your replies I am wrong :( Hubby will have a decent pension but we will still be young (I will be 43 and him 48). It is only one option that we are looking at, he may need to sign on to the RAF for longer yet.
