Post Help me get through my B1 Business Visa interview!

Hello there,
This is a very generic question and I'd appreciate all types of answers and previous application stories.

I'm applying for a short training B1 Business U.S Visa. Can you please let me know if you have any tips/advice and documents that will give me a good chance of getting this approved!

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Just curious why you can't use the VWP. Why do you need the visa? The same B-1 activities are allowed on the VWP.

Sorry I forgot to mention - My E-2 Visa was declined due to not being a specialised employee under section 214(b) therefore resulting in this my ESTA will now be declined forever more.

No, it won't. Not forever. You will always have to declare the denial, as long as that question is on the ESTA, but it won't necessarily always result in a denied ESTA. The longer the gap between visa denial and ESTA application, the greater the chance of ESTA approval.

As for the B-1, fill out the application, pay the fee, attend the interview. Bring proof from you employer that your stay in the USA is to attend training, and the specific date you are due back at work.

I applied for a B1/2 at the London embassy so I could travel frequently to the US whilst I was working at a US bank in London. I was dressed in business attire, I clipped my business card to the documents I handed over, which included a comprehensive letter from my employer as to why I was traveling to the US so much, my role in the dept and the international nature of our project. I was confident and only answered the questions asked.
Your denial for a non immigrant visa may raise some questions that you should be prepared to answer briefly and to the point. The officer may be searching for immigrant intent within your answers, make it clear that you are going over for a limited amount of time.
Good Luck.

Thank you, I appreciate you message. What kind of questions did they ask you?

He's a young pup with no ties to the UK as he lives with his parents. Yes, he can and will get the letter from his employer. JFTR, he is not attending training but giving the training.

It was in 2007 so cant remember exactly but a few questions about my role and the type of work I do. Fortunately they didn't ask me how long I'd worked for the company as it was only day3!
They need to validate the reason for the issue of the visa for the purpose stated and not as a way for you to try to just get into the US.

They may ask if there is anyone else in the company who could do this training? This is not a formal interview in a little room, it is like you are standing at the post office window. You don't have a lot of time to make your case. Be confident, knowledgeable and professional.
