Default Handicapped access at London embassy?

Ok, I am worrying about this way ahead of time, since it will probably
be a couple of months until the interview... but anyway... I was
just reading the embassy ratings on VisaJourney, and someone was
complaining about lack of ramp and elevator, steps outside, visa
office on 2nd floor... my fianc can't get up stairs at all at the
moment, and this is unlikely to change between now and then, and I'm
just worrying about what on earth to do about this.

Anyone have any experience or clues?

Have you considered emailing the Embassy?

I had my interview at the London Embassy a couple of weeks ago and I don't
recall seeing any disabled access at all. As you're probably aware there
are a lot of steps; a few to get into the building then some more once
you're inside.

As FlyergirlUK already said, emailing would probably be the best bet. The
address is [email protected]

Hope this helps.

I'm going to mail them... I figured that I'd wait until the case file
got there; we *just* got the letter saying that the INS was sending
things to London. So as soon as I get confirmation on that, I'm going
to try to work this out.

There's just got to be some kind of access... I was just hoping that
someone happened to know, because... well, this just hadn't really
occurred to me because all government buildings in the US are legally
required to be handicapped accessible. So now I have a new thing on
my worry list.

It would be really nice if ANY part of this process wasn't filled with
anxiety.

FYI if anyone else cares... the London embassy does have wheelchair,
etc., access... you just have to ask. We finally phoned them. :-)

Great :o) It stands to reason that there would have wheelchair access but
you can never be too careful. Checking it out beforehand is the most
sensible thing to do.

The funny (not very, actually...) thing is that the place that
*doesn't* have handicapped access is the place where they do the
medical exams. I asked the nice woman on the phone what they do if
people can't get up stairs, and she said, well, the doctors usually
just come out and lift the wheelchair.

Really strange.

That sucks. The one thing I will say in their favour though is that the
people at the Nuffield are very, very nice. At least they were in Edinburgh
(where I had my medical).
