If there is no estate tax for USC as paulgani said, then why were the

I never said there was no estate tax. I said there was no estate tax due when a spouse
dies. If you are a USC, you can inherit an unlimited amount from your spouse without
paying any FEDERAL estate tax.
However, if the surviving spouse dies, and the estate goes to the children, then estate
tax becomes due.
