Default During 1485 interview , officer took out frmo I94 and now what if i travel to canada

HI all.

I have H1B. quick Question: During my I 485/130 interview , INS officer
took my I-94 (which was staple in my passport) took it out from my
passport and now my name is pending name check.

I may have to travel to canada in Jan 07 for meetings. I do have the
photocopy of the I94 wit me though.

Since i have to check out with NSSERS every time i leave USA , and
during that process they (immigration) usually look for your I94...now
what should i do. ...should i simply give them photocopy at the time of
departure or what ?

I'd doubt somone on this forum could help: As i have never recived any
reply back on this forum

Yes, since they typically don't take out your I-94, I don't see what
the problem is.

Maybe if you were were to explain what NSSERS is, you may get
meaningful replies.

If you left out key information in your previous posts, I understand
that you never received any reply back on this forum.

You may also consider using a spelling checker.

When I was first in the US on F-1 and travelled back to canada the
airline in canada took away my I-94 card at the ticket counter. I didn't
know any better to stop them. When I got to the immigration check the
officer told me they shouldn't have done that and just had me fill out
another one. He wrote on it, "Do not remove, for multiple entry", so it
wouldn't happen again. I don't know if this helps or if they will just
give you a new one. But that's my story.

my wife is Canadian.
During her trips back and forth across the US border, she has asked
for her I-94. Border clerks tell her they dont give them to
Canadians. However, every lawyer we spoke to says she should have one.
Which is right?

Chuck, it depends what she was traveling to the US for? If it was just
for personal (ie: vacation, visit family, visit you, ect) or business
(like a meeting or business trip) then the border patrol was right,
canadians don't get I-94's for that. If it was in any other immigration
category then she should have received an I-94.

The lawyer may not know what he is talking about, if so I would suggest
using a different one.

Whenever I have traveled to Canada no one immigration officer has ever been
interested in my I-94, even when I have specifically asked if I need to
surrender it. I have British citizenship, so I can only assume the rules for
Canadians are the same, or even less strict.

For the record, it appears I am not the only one who does not know what
NSSERS means. I search of Google pulls up a posting you made to another
forum (asking the same question) and the response was "What is NSSERS?".
