I was a 22 year with two young kids and no husband or college degree and did quite well. Did even better after I got the college degree but not in the field I studied for. I'm also elderly as I've been told here on BE and have a medical condition but I'm doing fine. Only difference is that I didn't have to emigrate.

Depends on what you want and how willing you are to work to make things work. Unfortunately, the OP doesn't seem to have a basis for an immigration visa.

We lived in the desert outside of Los Angeles for a few years. In autumn/spring you could wake up with the heating on, go outside in jeans and a thick jacket, go shopping, come out the shop and start sweating due to the heat. Get back home and the air con is now on instead, and change into shorts and T-shirt. All in the space of a few hours.

Down here near San Diego we've had 15c one day followed by 28c the next just this week.

Grand Rapids is pretty nice.

I prefer the US to the UK and that's despite living in Detroit .

I don't like how small and provincial the UK feels now.

I like the US weather. Snow and a full summer, works for me.

OP make a plan and come over if that's what you want. Company transfers or marriage to a US citizen are your friends here.
