Citizenship N-400 question
Hi guys and girls.
I'm looking to file my citizenship form N-400 with the USCIS and have a query. I am eligible for naturalization however i left the USA a couple of months back and wonder if i should put my current address (in the UK) or the continuing address that I'm holding in the USA? For reasons i wont bore you wit it would be convenient to do as much as possible from here in the UK but i didn't want to file anything that could go against me later.

You will need to be available to travel to the USA for your biometrics appointment, N-400 interview, and oath ceremony. Once you have the oath ceremony, you will need a US passport in hand if you wish to leave the USA and return in the future.

The Immigration & Nationality Act has multiple residence requirements. Some determine the place of filing.
BTW, there are exceptions although OP does not indicate they may apply.

Re: Citizenship N-400 question
Thanks for the replies, I had read them it's just i had a trip back to the USA for a wedding right when IRMA was hitting so the last few weeks have been intense. My current residence is at my in-laws In Georgia so i will use that for correspondence and apply from here. Traveling for bio-metrics / interview / oath ceremony is merely a minor inconvenience, i've read somewhere (probably on here) that Interviews and oaths can happen on the same day, is this so?
Basically i came back to the UK as a short term measure to help a family member whose business had a couple of major setbacks, I'm only interim help as my brother will be taking over the business here shortly, at which time I'll be back in the USA permanently. when i count up how many days in the last 7 years I've spent outside the USA it comes to a collective 3 months.
After reading the document checklist it seems what applies to me is rather simple, am i missing something? from previous experiences with applying for residence I had to send all kinds of extra supporting evidence (photo's criminal history, medical, relationship history etc etc) So far as i can tell my situation, as well as the correct forms and fees, requires me to send:
- copy of my green card
- 2 passport photo's
-proof of of wife's citizenship
-Marriage certificate
- tax, returns, banks accounts, mortgages, leases etc.
Is that it? just seems a conspicuously small list
Thanks again for your help

Re: Citizenship N-400 question
It can happen although I'm not sure if it happens at all offices. It also depends on the time of the interview. My wife had a morning interview in Baltimore and was scheduled for an afternoon oath ceremony that same day. If her interview had been in the afternoon, then she likely would have had to come back another day for the oath ceremony. I had my interview the same morning but had to wait a couple of months for the oath ceremony (long story).

They provide a document checklist and, yes, it does seem relatively small, compared with the usual bundles we supply to USCIS for visas.
Assuming you will be at the Atlanta Field Office they do have some oath ceremonies the same day and several each week. I had my ceremony there.
