The USA has been effectively closed to most of us as a destination for migration for many years. That message has not got through to the Great British Public who are still mesmerised by the images of the US they see on TV

I blame Eastenders. People who work behind a bar or in a nail salon just "move to America" without going through any paperwork, without even setting foot inside the US embassy. All they do is buy a ticket, have a farewell party and go.

Quite a number of people do actually come to America that way.

Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen in the US. You can have a nice life in the UK.

Why do you feel you have to move to a foreign country, a place where you have no family (based on your posts) and no knowledge of what life is even like there to achieve that?

Why do you think that can only be achieved in the most difficult country to immigrate to? Can it not be achieved in the U.K.? I had Avery nice life in the U.K. Many people do. As mentioned, there are plenty of countries you can try. No visa required. And they can offer "a nice life".

My definition of a nice life would be more paid time off from work so that I could travel more. The USA is one of the worst choices for that. Scandinavia would be much better.

Well not buy a ticket...

Actually I have seen people with specialist wood working skills move, trying to remember the details... Maybe musical instruments or historic preservation?

Understood. So which of the visas in that link provided do you feel you qualify for? You keep repeating the same thing but you don't give us any idea which realistic path you are looking at (other than a vague "sponsorship" comment).

Read that link and come back with THE VISA(S) you believe you qualify for, then there can be a serious discussion.

"not governed by governments anymore"

The Federal Government in the USA might disagree with you on that They make the rules about who gets in and how.

Not bad. You demonstrate that job title and duties can make a difference. OP's use of generic "carpenter" will not get very far.

Yeah that's all great. But unless there's something else in your circumstances that you haven't already told us about, the harsh reality of life is that you and your family ain't moving to the USA.

It might be just as well though. Because if you don't like the UK and you didn't like Australia, well there's a pattern emerging there and you'd probably be unhappy wherever you end up.

To be read carefully. Some ways are buried or not obvious (e.g. spouse born in Northern Ireland).
