hi. does anyone know if it's possible to acquire student visa while
you're already here in the united states?

No. A visa can only be acquired outside the US.

You can apply for a change of status, though (assuming you have a visa status and are not travelling on the Visa Waiver)

If you are on a visa waver, then no, you have to get it from a
consulate outside the united states, your home country I'd guess, I was
told you can get it from Canada or Mexico. I advise you to call one of
the universities just for info
