We got quoted a about $400AU, but also had to go through getting permission from landlord etc to have a dish put on the roof. Mobile broadband option does the job, sometimes slowly but ended up being the best option.

There is a lot of building going on up in the north, Mawson Lakes, Blakes Crossing all the way to up Gawler. Some people are a bit 'nose up' at northern suburbs but there are some good ones and it is a bit of an up and coming area.

we are heading out to adelaide on 24 nov so just sorting shipping etc right now!

so here's the BIG questions
1. Do you miss the rain HA HA
2.Do you feel differently about hte about spiders and snakes to when you were just getting used to the idea 6 months ago???
1. Not so much miss the rain but as Oz has been in drought for the last 10 years you start seeing rain as being a blessing instead of a curse. More rain, more drinking water in the reservoirs, less pulling from the River Murray for water, less ecological damage, better chance of survival for Oz farming industry.
2. Well so far haven't seen any snakes - but then again I don't go into the long grasses or wooded areas much. Spiders have only seen ordinary house spiders so far.
All in all - though I would rather not come face to face with them have actually been disappointed to not see any.

Thanks for all your advice, we've certainly taken it on board.

I have actually been informally offered 5 days supply (I'm a teacher) in Gawler which would probably lead to a full-time job.

Appears a bit far out for us but I'd like to have a look at it.

Thanks,
Cooler

Hi Hannash

These suburbs are in the North east - Mawson Lakes is about 15 mins from Semaphore (North West) as its nearest seaside point. If you are interested in being by the seaside there are some lovely suburbs on the coast, but obviously the prices there will reflect that. If you believe that you will be working in the North of Adelaide and you want the Seaside - have a look at Semaphore and its surrounding areas. Largs Bay which is just next door to Semaphore is down as being one of the next boom suburbs, so you can get a lot of house for not very much at the moment.

Hi Coolerking

If you want to live in Adelaide and will be working in Gawler there is a good train link there - trains about 3/4 times an hour. Otherwise driving (assuming you live in a Northern Suburb) is about 45mins to an hour. Just to note on the train line they have announced works for the line which will probably take about 3/4 months and start in the new year. But Gawler itself is an up and coming area with some nice new suburbs being built around there and you are in the gateway to the wine country ;-)

When l lived in Adelaide in rained quite alot in winter but not much in summer,
never saw any snakes, Theres spiders around but its not something anyone worries about considering no one has died from one in the past 30 years,

I know!!! As i stood at the train platform, in big winter coat, scarf and brolly up, could so easily have been back in the UK this morning.

Guess who's flying to Austraalia next week

Yup, looks like we'll in Adelaide a week on Wed

Gawler is looking very likely, just need to wait for a reply to a recruitment officer
