Re: The 'Jen1977au' thread
So...back in April the OH went over on his ankle playing footie at work, he heard a crack at the time and felt like he was going to be sick. He was given crutches by the army doctor, and weeks of physio etc occurred. Earlier this month, when it wasn't getting any better, they decided to have it scanned and found out that it was actually fractured, bits of bone were floating about from the fracture and to top things off, his ligament had actually snapped! ARGHHHH long story short, he had his surgery yesterday to staple the ligament back onto the bone, have the fracture filed down and the bits of bone removed. He's now lying here on his Lazyboy in absolute agony and it's really hard to watch. Just thought I'd share as I'm sitting here feeling pretty awful that I'm feeling ok and he's not. I have three days emergent compassionate leave next week so at least I can be here for him, then once I am back at work I'm only 1.6km up the road if anything should go wrong. Just feel so bad for him, it's absolutely killing me seeing him in such a lot of pain....
Anyhoo, rant over...sorry for boring you all...

Lots of beer being given, trying to make him drink it quicker so it eases the pain a little lol

I'd quite happily see my OH in a little pain this morning ......... in fact I might
inflict some myself if he carries on like this.
Sorry to hear about your's though Jen. Can't understand why an x-ray wasn't done in the first place.
Got any strong whiskey in the house?

I know, the army docs are useless, he'd breathing diffs for our first year here, how do you solve that? Antihistamines of course, ended up he has asthma and it took a specialist to tell him that, then he hurt his back and my mates hubby was the radiologist/grapher(?) so we found out the results straight away, the army though, waited a month to tell Simon he'd a bulging disc/k pushing on to his spinal cord and that it was leaking fluid! ARGHHHH FRUSTRATING MUCH?!!? He's not had a great first 19 months in Oz has he!!! lol

Ref. your trip up here, Cotton Tree is a bit different to Mooloolaba for cafes, + the Boatshed for a nice meal, and Coolum beach is worth a visit. Also the coast drive to Noosa is very scenic, and if you have time head up the ridge to Montville and Maleny. Recommend the zoo, and underwater world. Think you might need more than a few days here. All the best for a speedy recovery.

Re: The 'Jen1977au' thread
Seriously sympathise. My grown up son!!!??? born again skate boarder in his late 30's, fell off a friends skate board 8 weeks ago, and broke his ankle in 3 places, now pinned and plated and back home to be looked after. No joke as he works in Brisbane 1 hour from the sunny coast. Yes it's painful, but does get a bit better after the first 2'sh weeks. Plaster now off, but getting mobile slowly. Thank goodness he can work from home. Be prepared for it to take a while, lots of patience required.
