We've got our citizenship ceremony next Wednesday, never thought it'd be us. Feeling a little bit as if I've turned my back on Mother England, but in my heart I never could. Timing couldn't be worse now I gotta vote for Laurel or Hardy . Told my old man yesterday and he choked up, pride not sadness, choked me up too if i'm honest.
Gonna be celebrating on the way home by changing lanes for no apparent reason.
Chuffed to bits , thanks for all the advice in the early days, hope I've paid back

And in your honour of changing lanes for no apparent reason, I am going to drive round the roundabout the wrong way and flip the bird to whoever challenges me on it like a lady did to me a while back.
Have a great day at your ceremony - it certainly is a lovely day out and its a good feeling when you see the effort that goes in to it, makes you proud to be there.

Having just done my ceremony, I'd say it was well worth it- it is an interesting evening seeing just how many different nationalities there are becoming citizens. The Brits were just outnumbered by the Saffas, but beat the Indians, Koreans Chinese, Thai, Philipinos, Argentinians and Iraquis at mine, and there was a lone Yank.
Do you know all the words to Waltzing Matilda- the Banjo Patterson version? They made us sing that- I didn't know if it was a test of our Aussieness or not, but luckily I knew the words, having sung it with my preschoolers!!

They must be cleverer, (or more desperate)!

Apparently we'll be getting presented an Illawara flame tree each, lovely looking tree.
they'll be going down the bottom of the garden in the indiginous plant bit I reckon, perhaps one in the front. 35m high according to gardening folk, eek

St Ives is a well known Saffa ghetto!!!! Also Jews make up a large percentage of the population, due to the very good school, MASADA, which is surrounded by razor wire and gun-toting security guards.
