Whats my chances
Considering moving to Canada with my family, Iam coming upto my 53 birthday
I have over 25 years experience class 1 mostly in Europe & Scandinavia. All types driven from Tippers - flats - skellys - refers etc etc etc. Ex military RE POM.
I have type 2 diabetes on tablets not injections.
I hold a CPC in National & International Road Transportation.
and finally with great regret and remorse in 2009 i stupidly gained a DR10.
So as this is my first thread I eagerly await any advice given.
Kindest Regards

best thing you could do is to try and get hold of an immigration company like vrv global who are in Calgary and specialise in brining foreign workers to Canada and send them an email with a covering letter and a c.v telling them you would like to work here buy you have a dr10 and seeing what they say about it.

With a drink driving conviction you're inadmissable to Canada (even for a holiday) until at least 5 years have passed from the end of any ban. Once that 5 years have passed you'd need criminal rehabilitation from CIC, which can take up to a year to obtain, so 2015 or so at the earliest is when you'd be able to go.
Whether you'd get a driving job with that I have no idea, but the gents here will be able to advise on that.
But from a visa point of view, this is what you need to read - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...conviction.asp
And FWIW, I'd steer clear of the firm mentioned above, as they don't have a great reputation in the Canada forums - they seem to charge for recruitment (illegal in Canada) and also don't have a ICCRC licensed consultant (or if they do, they don't display the membership number on their website as required by law).

Unfortunately anything to do with drink driving over here is tantamount to mass murder!!
You are forbidden to even carry alcohol in the cab in the US.
Having said that, all you can do is to ring the major recruiters.
