Default Truck Drivers Hours

Hi - this is Karla's husband Simon. I've done some searching on the Internet about drivers hours in Canada, can somebody please put it into layman's terms. I do understand it slightly but reading it on this forum I'm sure I will understand it a little bit better. Cheers in advance. SY

You can work 14hrs a day and out of those you can drive a maximum of 13hrs a day, and a maximum of 70 in 7 days! Well that's what I work anyway, they're other variations depending on who you work for and what log pattern they put you on! But tjis is the most common one Ive found, but having said all this when you go over the 69th parallel it all changes again!
I hope this helps

You can drive for 15hrs and work 18hrs a day above the 60th , Not that I will be ever going up there

Basically a minimum of 10 hrs off duty in 24 with 8 consecutive hrs off

Loads more permutations here :

13 hours to drive - Max
14 hour day - Max (can be 16 hrs with 2 hrs Off Duty)
to do your driving in, pre trip, fueling, loading, unloading and other daily routines associated with on duty status

10 hours off duty

You can take up to two hours off duty during your day to count towards your 10 (1/2 hour minimum breaks),
example - 1/2 hr breakfast 1/2 hr lunch 1 hr dinner

Jolly good you copied and pasted this, now explain it so all understand these rules, then explain the US rules, then explain how you mix them when running back and forth.

Driving a dump truck can give you the opportunity to work with closely with other members of this trade. When you learn, how to drive a dump truck you can also see about the getting your own truck and hiring yourself out as a freelance driver on many different of projects around your area. This means being able to keep a larger share of the fees you charge, though you will also be a responsible for the cost of maintaining your truck yourself. Dump truck drivers regularly make as much as $19.00 an hour with time spent almost solely driving trucks back and forth with a load to dump it. But it may be driving a tow truck is more to your liking... When the people are in need of someone to tow their vehicle, when it breaks down, the tow truck driver is someone they are always happy to see. Tow truck drivers working for someone else can expect to make anywhere from $12.00 to $16.00 an hour, though owner/operators of a tow truck can charge anywhere from $75.00 to $150.00 per tow, + additional fees for extra mileage over a set rate.
