Not by the restaurant, just run of the mill families gathered in prayer before eating. I believe Alaska attracts a certain big religious right type among others.

Irritating as that would be to see, I was more concerned that this was being sanctioned by the restaurant, which would be blatantly unconstitutional.
I'd probably loudly get up to go to the bog in the middle of it or something, just to be a dick

Just took me by surprise the first few times, one minute they're all chatting and laughing around the table, the next minute, heads are bowed, hands held and theres some earnest sounding whispering going on. I thought it was kind of strange in the middle of Applebees or wherever on a Tuesday afternoon.

Quite possibly, although there was always a certain Mit Romney look about the families, you know the type. All wholesome turtlenecks and girl mullets.

WTF moment - happens every year on Ash Wednesday....see someone approaching and think "man, wonder what they ran in to" then they get closer and you realize its just the ash on their forehead....did we used to do that back in the UK? I don't remember, but I don't think so....
I did wonder why there were so many dirty looking hobo's about

1) Using the word.....
"liberal" or
"atheist" or
"Mexican" or
"Socialist" or
"gay" or
"intellectual",
as a perjorative, (often preceded by an actual pejorative," fu--in' ") , or
.... using all of them together, as in:
"Oh, for Chrissake, he's just a f---in', intellectual atheist - a gay, liberal, Mexican Socialist
Tho' I'll admit - used in 1 fell swoop....that's not something I've actually heard (yet)
2) Hermetically sealed office blocks with windows that don't open
3) Combo of Mitch McConnell + Gun proliferation =

8) TV prescription ads with their dire warnings of potential, scary, disgusting side effects - particularly "WTF" when broadcast whilst eating dinner in front of telly. (well, who does that?

9) Local news weathermen in front of kaleidoscopic radar maps, in too-tight suits,
gesticulating and doing wild bodily contortions - all of which becomes so hypnotically mesmerizing that when the shock and awe is over - WTF - you can't remember if you've been warned whether or not a blizzard is fast approaching
10) Bumper stickers proclaiming the superiority of the driver's super achiever offspring
11)Fire Sales
Going-Out-Of-Business Sales
Liquidation Sales
Soupy Sales (whoops...strike that....mustn't speak ill of the dear departed....anyway he doesn't belong on any WTF list....name just popped into my head. for obvious reasons..)
12) Capitol punishment

17) Coupon clippers, stack in hand, in supermarket check out queue at 6:00PM
18) Mammoth, multi-story parking structures with unmarked spaces, many elevators, escalators and exits
