I live in Little Brazil.
It is bonkers here with the imports. Also with the Guatemalans and Ecuadorian s. the natives, not so much.
I plan to watch as much of it as possible...but that might not be all that much

Depends how you define "Americans". The World Cup might have significant support in certain demographics, such as those with Hispanic heritage, and younger ones who play at school or college. But I don't believe there is much interest in the bulk of the run-of-the mill white and black US population. Any wider interest is a four-yearly phenomon, a bit like the 2wk/ year tennis fans in Britain.

yes, in the same way that baseball is the same as rounders and basketball is the same as netball.

1966 in colour.
Interesting how times have changed so much, and grounds. I think my first trip to Everton must have been late 70's.

America will win the world cup before England ever do.

Hasn't Greg Dyke implemented some sort of 20 year plan to help England win the World Cup? I totally agree with this though. Once the MLS becomes a proper league rather than a cash cow for retired Europeans, and it offers the same sort of money and stardom other US sports offer, they will become a footballing powerhouse. Luckily, by then, I'll probably have my citizenship so I'll be able to jump on the bandwagon. Better start practicing my chant LOL.

one of my old friends in ohio was messaging me today asking me about the world cup and how it works. (was it a bracket type of thing). She is interested because her son is a soccer fan, but he rates Englands chances as dismal and USAs even worse lol.
Im quite excited to watch Englands game but im expecting to get disappointed - especially after failing to beat even 'honduras today.
