No snow yet, not too cold either around 36F right now. Cloudy.

Environment Canada still calling for snow, updated forecast.

60 percent chance of flurries early this afternoon. Snow or freezing rain beginning this afternoon except snow near Hope. Windy. High plus 2 except minus 1 near Hope.

Tonight Snow or freezing rain except snow near Hope. Snowfall amount 10 cm. Windy this evening and after midnight. Temperature steady near zero except near minus 2 near Hope.

Hoping they can have highway clear by morning if it does snow, have an appointment in the city, and snow can cause a 1 hour drive to into a 3-4 hour drive.

That happened to us a few years ago, all the suppliers started to run out so they had to start shipping it up from Texas or somewhere. Ended up costing us almost twice per ton as what we were billing the customers to apply it.

After a couple of 'milder' winters though and last years El Nino, we hadn't gone through quite so much, so for now the suppliers have bulk salt in abundance. The bagged product seems to be in somewhat of short supply though, for whatever reason. Anyway, I have our bins full for now, but we're supposed to get some snow this week, so we'll see how far that goes. At least 4-5 events at my best guess, though.

Meh, it is what it is. If a 'cold' day around here was in the vicinity of 30F I'd consider myself very lucky

I know, I was shoveling 6" of snow off my drive at 2am in that storm the week before Christmas with the below zero wind chills. Though the air temp was a balmy 16F ...

I try to keep to the West side of Portland, but I saw that the East was more affected.

Ice storm was cancelled earlier today. That means school tomorrow.

Oregon decided it was OK to use salt on the roads, I don't know whether it actually did.

The big storm that passed through didn't affect us too badly. I think we were right at the southern tip. It's caused some damage up in the Santa Cruz mountains though, and further north, the famous redwood with the tunnel carved through it unfortunately got toppled

So sad to see that iconic tree is down. It was on my bucket list.

Years ago we did walk through some redwoods in Golden Gate Park--made a great impression on our whole family....

Its cold and windy today. Arctic outflow has returned. -4C currently, -8 expected overnight. The wind at times is so strong you can see the glass in the front window move.

Our street is an ice rink, the snow from Sunday night was never plowed so got compacted by cars, melted a bit yesterday, now frozen and hard to drive on.

Another 3 to 8 inches of snow, kids off school again, and one of my poor bushes fell over. Work is looking for volunteer drivers to drive doctors into work because doctors can't drive in the snow.

The ER in some of the hospitals are redirecting because not enough doctors can get in and they don't have enough volunteer drivers. They are only compensating hourly paid workers who volunteer. Exempt workers are expect to work the extra 6 hours per day for free.

Oregon is run by idiots. They won't salt the roads and now are decalring a state of emergency. Just buy some plows and salt the damn roads. Stop being so green.

Based on some of the flooding I saw on the news, seems some parts of California got hit pretty hard.

LA has apparently gotten 150% above their normal rain for the season.

Does Oregon as a whole get tons of snow? (outside of the high elevations, such as say Portland area.)

Even up here in Southern Coastal BC city's don't invest a whole lot in snow removal resources, simply not worth it as most years the snow is not significant enough to justify buying dozens of plows.

They basically do the bare minimum to keep arterial roads open.

Just a few days a year. The biggest gripe I have is that they refuse to use salt or any kind of de-icer.

They can't even keep the arterial roads open.
