Meant to drop to 10f over night. Have the taps set to drip.
Watching my bank balance trickle down as the heat blows out.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Snow Mountain, a popular destination for tubing, building snowmen and "snowball shooting" in Atlanta will be closed Saturday -- because of snow.

Thankfully only 2 people have died so far because of the cold. A man aged 53 and a woman aged 51. One in a doorway , the other in a parking lot.

We have had a few die around the region from cold, and at least one person died from snow caving in on her tend and suffocating her.

Not sure but I was tempted to post this in the WTF thread.
Anyone would think that I live near the Arctic Circle, going by tonight's local news station's 'layers, sweaters, soups, heat, stay inside' bs.
FFS people it's going to drop to 38F overnight here, WTF is wrong with these people? Especially considering that a good percentage of those resident in this county are those who grew up in Northern states and understand very well how to cope with wearing long (lightweight) pants. It's Florida not effing Alsaka.
Stay warm all those of you North of Jacksonville expecting parky weather.

I note that you are in Hillsboro, have you ever experienced an ice storm in East Portland? Apples and oranges, by the time Hillsboro begins to thaw East Portland is becoming an unpassable mess.
I lived in between in Beaverton for 30 plus years, improvement always comes from the south or south west.

Ice storms are a specialty of the Portland Metro area. 2 ior 3 times per year on average, a half dozen times on a bad year.

Ice storms are my least favourite. At least with snow you can clear up fairly quickly. We had an ice storm a week ago and a lot of the hiking trails I use are still blocked by downed trees. OTOH at least everyone has their power back now.

Well it happened. Miami Fl is, or was, under 60 this morning.

I agree with you. The longest winter power outages I've experienced have resulted from severe ice storms. To say nothing of the damage they wreak in the garden.
