Default Where can one buy mincemeat?

Hello!

A quick question from the missus (she's too lazy to register!). We've got the rellies coming over for xmas, and we want to make mince pies. Anyone got any idea where we can get some mincemeat? We're in Marin, CA.

Thanks a bunch!

I'm sure other places do too - my mother makes mince meat every year for the holidays.

Most supermarkets have them around this time of the year.

If the relies are coming over from the UK, I would suggest they bring the mince pies with them. I was in World Market at the weekend and half a dozen Mr. Kipling mince pies were $6.99.

I just made a huge batch for the first time, having seen the price of jars of mincemeat in Hannafords or Shaws or Wholefoods or somewhere...

Pretty easy, I used Delia's recipe. It was like this one http://www.deliaonline.com/cookery-s...eat,67,AR.html but without the cranberries. I bothered to buy suet from a butcher's dept of a supermarket but I guess you could use some other fat.

I have suet from a butcher too but I haven't got the time, money and resources these days to make Delia's recipe. I'll be putting my suet to use in a more simple recipe.

me too...it was real easy...you just threw everything into a bowl...left it for 12 hours..then put it in a warm oven for 3 hours and hey presto all done...

and it tastes delicious too..

Have you tried "You Say Tomato" on California and larkin?

www.yousaytomato.biz

I know it's across the GG but they usually have lots of stuff you can't find anywhere else! Whilst you're in the area you could also go to the chippy (Piccadilly fish and chips) on Polk street, its just a few blocks down.
