Today, because I am listening to Kings College Carols

Lots of special memories related to that. One very cold Christmas many years ago we sat in the chapel a few days before Christmas and listened to a practice of the Nine Lessons and Carols. It was beautiful, and it always makes brings a tear to my eye when I listen now.

When the little shits...I mean the kids, pick and decorate the tree and Pandora app gets the first play of 80's Christmas channel.

That and when the missus sticks the Love Actually DVD on.

When we put up the tree. Which we are doing today because doing it any earlier just seems repugnant to us; when I was growing up we did it Christmas Eve!

Carols don't do it for me because I studied to be a choir director, so I was practicing that stuff from the beginning of September on.

Day after Thanksgiving. Mrs L puts up the tree, puts out the decorations and starts playing Christmas music.

Ditto. My OH has a Christmas channel on Pandora for weeks in the house and the car! Our house is lit up like a brothel on a Sunday. Neighborhood drinks party at ours tonight! And he even picks up another tree on Christmas Eve (usually free) to put out in the sunroom - bringing tree total to a ridiculous six! House and garden look beautiful though!

Never if I can help it!

Got away with no tree and no lights this year and even got rid of the wife for the week.

Now I can be Grinch McScrooge all week with no-one to stop me.

Husband went in to work early and won't get back till almost midnight. I'm left to put up the tree by myself. I have half a mind to pitch the thing into the nearest landfill instead.

To be honest, ever since I moved here it never feels like Christmas. It doesn't help that there are 3 immediate family birthdays between 12/21 and 12/25 but there is a distinct lack of Christmas pretty much everywhere around here.

Never really feels like Christmas to me, its just a time of year there happens to be an artificial pine in the house.

I can't do anything special for Christmas as I work so can't go home, and my girlfriend works so can't go to her family's house.

I get off work at 7am, she starts work at 8am, when she gets off work, I sleeping so I can go to work at 11pm.

Just another working day.

When the tree goes up. That's about it, I don't need much else really, I just like the lights more than anything else, they've always been quite relaxing.

My increasingly restless inner septic likes the lights on people's houses and in their gardens as well, when I'm out and about. We have a rather minimalist display on our front door, so I live vicariously through others ...
