UK Paypal account problems with US address
I have a UK paypal account that I wanted to add my UK credit card to. Unfortunately I am unable to add a card with a non UK address. Has anyone managed to do this? If I use my US paypal, it wants to make payment in dollars.

Ours is US-based, but surely it will want to use whatever address is linked to the card?

I think the problem was that with my US account, the vendor wanted to bill me in dollars. THey converted from GBP, billed me on my UK card in dollars and that got converted back to GBP. When I used UK paypal everything goes through in GBP

Re: UK Paypal account problems with US address
Contradictory information to that from PayPal:
Can I change my PayPal address to another country?
No.Due to banking regulations, you can not change your address to a country that is different from the country you used when you opened your account. If you're moving abroad, you’ll need to close your existing account and open a new account. If you maintain residences in 2 countries, you can have 2 PayPal accounts as long as only one is a Business account.

It is not only a problem with PayPal. Amazon, Apple etc. all have similar restrictions to prevent credit card fraud basically.

Re: UK Paypal account problems with US address
I have two PayPal accounts for the US/ UK, using different email addresses and country-based bank accounts. I use them to transfer small sums of money between my accounts, for sending family gifts and the like (I'm aware the FX rate will suck but the convenience outweighs the penalty on the amounts concerned).

I ended up closing my UK account and recreating a US one for my US debit/credit card.

I left my UK account open and connected to my UK bank account, and opened a US paypal account connected to my US bank account.
It works well for buying gifts in the UK, and sending it to family and friends. It's effectively the only thing I do with it.
On the eBay front (as the companies were till recently connected), eBay were only too happy to switch region and allow me to add my US address.etc - you have to go through their live help though as its not something you can do yourself.

I have never been able to switch my xbox live account fully to the US. The movies and games in the store are from the UK site, but my currency is in dollars.
I think the only option with paypal is to use a UK address for my credit card in order to be able to add it to the account.

Re: UK Paypal account problems with US address
It did ask me to provide a US bank account as it had invalidated my UK AMEX.
I never bothered to check if the DVD players region changed - I got an XBox one shortly after moving here, so the 360 hasn't been touched since.

Amazon (UK) were fine with it (thankfully).
