i downloaded the App just to see, to get to my local town 11 minutes away according to my Map app would be $17.56 but no UberX available.

So tried local Ski resort, $45.86 and nothing available.

This is the socialist attitude that is not going to help Europe as they have to compete with China and others in the future. If British uber drivers want a vacation stop accepting fares and stay home. You want to earn more drive more. This is a voluntary partime job with no obligation to do anything.

That's how I see it, but it appears that the tribunal does not.

The articles mention a driver needs to accept 80% of incoming fares.

But that's when he's switched on, surely?

2 years ago, I after the Summerfest concert in Chicago, I was about to pull out my parking spot and return home, when a couple thought mistook my car for their uber ride. I told them they were mistaken but I would give them a ride home for no charge. Dropped them off and made the long journey home.

I can't see myself ever being an Uber rider; just don't want the hassle of dealing with the general public. Plus now that I am getting a 1 ton crewcab pickup, the mpg and nuisance of parking a large vehicle would make uber driving a stupid exercise.

I agree with this aspect of the discussion. I think almost all work should be treated this way, with safeguards from monopoly employers and a solution to the 'access to healthcare' issue in the US (employment is practically a requirement for access to decent healthcare in the US, so whether a job is 'full time' or not matters).

Paying hackers to keep quiet and delete data probably isn't illegal, but I doubt this action removed the responsibility to inform users of the breach, as required by laws in several states.
