I think American alcohol should all be tax free. Same with American gas, just tax the foreign stuff.

In the US, unless you live in a swing state most people might as well not bother voting. In fact from what I have heard, for the past 70+ years it would have been easier and cheaper, and the results identical, for the US to just have Ohio vote to decide who should be president!

I just thought it was because they allowed horses and cows to vote in Wyoming.

All forms of democracy create skewed voting values to some degree. Unless you simply count up the votes then any form of districting, such as constituencies and state-based groups, will create inconsistencies.

I agree, but hardly what one would call democratically elected, since on the ballot one votes directly for the President, it should be a straight up vote. Who gets the most votes wins. The present system is open to all kinds of abuses, particularly gerrymandering house districts.

In England you only have the option of voting using your current address. In the US it is possible to be registered in multiple States and therefore cast your vote where is counts the most. This is what Trumps daughter did.

Not true, you can register in multiple constituencies in the UK. You may only vote once in a general election, but can vote in both/each location in local council elections.

The system used in the UK tends to work better than the interstate cross check system in the US. If you move house in the UK , they generally remove you from the register when you register at your new address.
Yes, if you can prove you spend substantial time in both places you can register, I'm not sure how much proof you have to present.

One did argue that the House districts are unquestionably gerrymandered, and makes a joke of the belief we have a democratic elected HoR.
I do argue that the electoral college vote doesn't represent the actual votes cast for the President, since the numbers are skewed in favour of the smaller States.

I suspect that if the US was to switch to a "popular vote" electoral system, (i) the overall voter turnout would rise, and that (ii) we'd find that there are a lot more Republicans in California, the PNW, Illinois, and New England, and a lot more Democrats in the SE and the heartland.

Just as Politicians promise the moon to get your vote and then give you a full moon on the bend over or make their election into a lifetime career choice because people are too ffing stupid and continue to re-elect them because it is the easy thing to do.
