I have just being watched CNN and they had a long item on the fear running through Immigrant communities.

OP has a point, time to take what you can get and run as quick as you can.

Where to though is the issue.

Umm, I'm not talking about Americans in general but the extreme right-wingers now in ascendancy in the current Administration. Bannon and the Breitbart crowd, who are far-right by anyone's definition.

As a USC, I certainly don't believe I'm likely to be deported.
However it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. In fact a potential benefit.

The Iranians have had a beef with the US and the UK for 60 years, since we arranged to overthrow the Mossadegh democratically elected government, so we could get their oil (sound familiar ?) . There's a reason they hate our govenments, and having read the story, I can't say I blame them,

If ICE are targeting scumbags who are here illegally, drug dealers, gang bangers, pimps, people who have voted illegally or have a record of petty crimes such as theft or carrying fake documents then I'm all for it.

I have a problem though with deporting people who although they came here illegally have been hard working , paid taxes, law abiding and raised families here and now may risk being torn apart .

American jobs for American workers, next American houses for American workers. All these damn foreigners come to the US buying houses, forcing up prices so the American worker cannot afford a house.

I dont think this will happen

Thing is that all jobs cannot be done by Americans that's why there are so many foreigners from Asia and the middle east who are here as doctors etc performing a vital service to the community where such services are badly needed.

I'd like to ask a rabid Trump supporter that if one day he's on an operating table and the surgeon happens to be from Iran or Pakistan if he'd refuse to be operated on because that surgeon is taking away the job from an American

Current Canadian government tends to be more immigrant friendly and more open and accepting then the current people in charge in the US.

Obviously he's seen how well that strategy worked for Angela Merkel.

We only own one property, the one we live in, and I would really like to be reassured that I'm being paranoid....

Guess I'm looking at Nazi germany's actions and thinking Trump is on that path...
Why on earth would there be forced "buy backs" ? Never heard this suggested any where. In fact Trump by the way owns lots of real estate, hard to see him promoting policies deliberately to hurt the real estate market.

If anything, Trump's policies ( or what we have heard to date) will have a good potential to increase inflation which should be good for real estate.

Yes you at being paranoid ! Or maybe not understanding how American government works- Trump doesn't pass laws the Congress does. He will not get a complete rubber stamp from Congress and certainly not from judiciary.

The myth is perpetuated every four years by presidential candidates of both parties who blather on about all the laws they are going to create.
