One thing my OH noticed was, and she pointed out when I was telling her flavours of crisps we have here, is that we seem to love and have an obsession with meat flavoured crisps in the UK... I'm not sure how true this is, but I haven't noticed many meat flavoured crisps in the USA?

That is a good point.

My favorite crisps in the USA are the lays BBQ chips. Those remind me of meat.

The Lays barbecue flavour used to be more beefy, but they have added a hint of bacon in the last few months. I guess they finally decided to get in on the obsession with bacon-flavoured food from the last few years.

I would imagine it was pretty universal among most blokes in their early 20s when presented with 5 weeks of annual leave per year.

If I had two days left to take off at Christmas, I considered it a successful year. My leave reset every February.

Lilac season is absolutely beautiful in my New England town. I walk a few miles every evening.

I bought some "Indian tikka masala" crisps in WalMart the other day. Not too bad. I prefer plain crisps myself though - Ruffles or Cape Cod.

Yup plain Cape Cods are the only potato chips for me. They taste very similar (if memory serves) to the plain Smiths crisps of the 1950s and 60s. The ones with the blue container of salt, when that was just how they came .... rather than the later nostalgic version.

Smith's with the "blue one"! What a lovely memory--thanks for reminding me of the treat of a bag of crisps I used to be allowed at the Saturday afternoon cricket match--along with the otherwise forbidden bottle of pop!

And occasionally, if you were lucky, there might be 2 little blue bags of salt by mistake.

Mmm.. " salty finger licking good" treat
