Nothing is as dangerous as dihydrogen monoxide. If you've touched it, ingested it, even stood next to a container of it, it's already too late. You will die.

Hmmm, I have no problem with Aspartame. The one I can't tolerate is the yellow one, Splenda (sucralose). Gives me a stomachache now if I consume just a single packet. Unfortunately it's the most widely offered in my local restaurants & coffee shops, so I have to tote my own sweetener....

Re: Sweeteners - do you use any?
Years ago we were both big sugar consumers in hot drinks. Tea and coffee almost had to have the spoon able to stand up in the heaped sugar we added. One day we decided to stop adding sugar. We went totally cold turkey, we didn't want to switch to sweeteners, it was sugar or nothing. We did it, and we still do it.
And as for drinking sodas, we just don't. Our cold drinks of choice are water or water!

Yes, I was never particularly tempted by carbonated drinks. But whenever family come to visit they seem to expect some bubbly drinks. Right now we have an elderly relative living on our premises & she's always chugging the diet Canada Dry ginger ale. It's a pain to buy, not inexpensive, takes up valuable real estate in my stuffed fridge, & the half-drunk cans are waste that offends my frugal gene.

If our son wants to drink soda he buys it out of his earnings, thus half drunk drinks waste his money not mine. I buy cans of soda once in a blue moon, and the big bottles even less frequently. However, he usually buys the 20 ounce bottles and drinks it all, maybe because he can see what is left with a bottle which you can't with a can.
