It's only the Yanks and Canadians who make such a big deal out of it and half of them who wear the green have about as much Irish blood in em that I have Eskimo

For instance, St. Lawrence, Saint of the gridiron. "I'm done, you can turn me over now."
Or St. Sebastian, usually modelled by a good looking almost naked guy with multiple arrow penetrations.

If I were Irish I'd probably be more annoyed at the "always drunk (on green Guiness), down-on-his-luck, not too smart, but poetically gifted Irishman" stereotype that is celebrated every March 17th in the US.

I have no problem with anyone celebrating it, just get the name right!

Or a Semtex car bomb, both could be ordered in certain pubs during the 80's.

Re: St Patrick's Day
As usual I was asked yesterday why I wasn't wearing green.
"Because I don't own any green."
"But aren't you celebrating St Patrick's Day?"
"Er no."
"Why not?!"
"Um. Because I'm not Irish - doesn't the English accent give it away?"

OK, this one does legit piss me off. Can you imagine if the Irish invented a drink called the 9/11?
As it was, the plastics were pretty well behaved this year and I was able to make a couple of hundred bucks by trying to pass off Jethro Tull as authentic Irish music again

Re: St Patrick's Day
Disrespecting the memory of actual bombing victims aside; it's painfully obvious that none of these people have actually been out drinking anywhere in Ireland on St Patrick's Day (or any other day, for that matter). Nobody's drinking stupid gimmicky things like that.
Food wise, I'll give them the corn beef and cabbage because even though it's not in the slightest bit Irish, I do like it. Though a nice Irish Stew and a buttery slice of wheaten bread would go down a treat.

Its either because Americans cant say d properly, and so they think they hear Patty, when the speaker is trying to say Paddy
or......
They think Paddy is a racist insult, they dont know Paddy is a diminutive for Padraigh.
Though these days with less gender stereotyping, giving a man a girls name is less of an issue I suppose. Is the Catholic church on board for St Paddy being trans?

I just mention the word Enniskillen to the pro-Irish catholic nuns when they start ranting on about how wonderful the Irish are. May not be 100% PC and might be against work policies to question a nun.
I did meet a guy who went through the Manchester bombing, luckily he was at the back of the shop when it went off.

Oh...and another thing...how many four leaf clovers have you seen this week masquerading as shamrocks?
