Some Internet competition at last
Centurylink have just finished putting fiber cable in our neighborhood. They are now busy trying to sign up Comcast internet customers and are offering a non promotional price, no contract, fixed for life with free installation $20 a month below Comcasts current price. Plus bundle the billing with a DirecTV account and get an extra $5 a month off.
Ordered 100mbps down, 50mbps up to be installed next Thursday. Hopefully the line from our house to their box is OK as it is 25 years old now.

So does that mean you have to have Direct TV is you want a TV provider? Also is that $20 below Comcast promotional price or listed price?
Frontier is doing 1 GB with TV for $79.95 at the moment which also sounds like a good deal. But you have to sign up for 2 years.

As we already have DirecTV there is a further discount for combining the billing into one bill. There is no restriction if you want to use any other TV provider.

So jealous.
I'd pay MORE than I am now, just for the pleasure of telling Cox to go eff itself.

I use comcast hotspots a lot now, so it would be tough to give that up.

When I had drama with Spectrum over my cable being buried in the ground it was so frustrating that I couldn't tell them to get stuffed and move somewhere else.
Hopefully fiber reaches my neighborhood over the next year or so.

Always nice to have an alternative isn't it.
My former hometown had a contract with cablevision for over 25 years and the city could not allow any other cable service to sell in the city. We all were so happy when the contract was not renewed and Verizon's Fiso was allowed in.
