Quality post.

I so wish I was somewhere near to be able to witness.

I wanted to go south of the border to see the total eclipse as I have never witnessed/experienced such a thing, but pretty much found it impossible to do due to high cost of everything especially hotels, and I am sure the roads will be so packed it would be a nightmare.

I do think we get to see a partial eclipse here in Vancouver, but I have seen those before.

If you have the time, inclination, money and there are still spaces you can get on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship with Bonnie Tyler who'll be singing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' at the moment of the eclipse. I imagine she did the same at the last one and will be available for hire at the next one.

I am just inside the 100% zone, it is my day off and expect to sleep through it.

Isn't totality at about 11am your local time? I used to love sleeping in that late but these days if I get a day off I kick myself if I'm not up early to enjoy every blissful, work-free minute of it

All manner of weirdos are claiming the eclipse is an omen. Can scientific events that we can predict accurately thousands of years in advance really be an omen?

She should change the lyrics to suit the actual science.

Once upon a time there was light in my life,
but briefly it was covered by the moon,
nothing I can say, a total eclipse of the sun.

Here in SE TN, we are slap bang in the middle of the total eclipse path, and are being advised to gas up our vehicles no later than today, since, supposedly, thousands of visitors are expected. Most hotels have been fully booked for months, and local authorities are treating it as a big festival.

Today we have driven from central Pennsylvania to Lexington KY, tomorrow we head to our final destination of Paducah KY and pray for good sky conditions on Monday.

Does everyone have their human sacrifices ready otherwise we'll lose the sun forever.

If you don't have a human sacrifice lined up, then there's a good chance you're someone else's sacrifice.
