This may happen because we won't have a choice of healthcare provider, not because it is a better system. It appears that some healthcare companies just keep growing, leaving the small fry behind. Some are now bigger than Comcast in term of revenue.

When I worked for Harvard University, 1991 - 1995, I think I had seven different choices of health plan. Four or so of those were with different HMO networks, the biggest at that time being Harvard Community Health Plan. Over the intervening years, I believe all those HMOs have amalgamated with each other...
