Default Relaxing Gun Control

I find it quite bizarre with all the attention on safety and terrorism when States are relaxing gun controls. I have a feeling this won't reduce deaths.

I think that, having decided to ban death panels, folks in the US realise that suicide has to be as easy & painless as possible. (Not necessarily easy for the cleanup crew, of course..)

Relaxing gun control doesn't prevent deaths, tightening it doesn't prevent deaths. It's a cultural problem, not an enforcement problem.

Anyway, I think there are far more pressing issues than guns (climate change, FFS) and others that can be addressed (poverty, housing, unemployment, healthcare) that might reduce some of the criminality that leads to the deaths.

Same argument goes for a drivers license here. So why both if it's not difficult to get?

Amused that if guns are all so great, why politicians are so scared of doing town hall meets because of safety...

You should have seen the number of Guns when Obama came to town.

The thing that really amused me was the ID check to get into the rallies.

The gun control lobby don't like it!

The biggest irony is that people that have concealed carry rights, whether by permit or blanket right, are very rarely the problem. The vast majority of shootings are either in private and therefore concealed carry is irrelevant, or are by criminals who are either previously convicted felons who are therefore automatically prohibited from carrying a gun, or will be when they have been caught and convicted (typically of drug trafficking or gang activities).

A lot of the people that are shot by their kids(toddlers) are CC holders.

Relevance?

They are mostly gun owners, and typically parents. A lot probably own a dog.

The amount of training to get a CC permit in a lot of States is minimal at the best. You take that away and people become even more careless with their guns.
You should not leave a gun in a place where a toddler can get hold of it, or anyone else for that matter. Guns require respect.

There is no gun control in the US full stop.

Wise words.

You have just proved what Boiler and I said above - concealed carry is irrelevant in the scenarios you describe. Anyone can buy a gun and keep it at home, no training is required, and if they have a concealed carry permit it is coincidental because it certainly isn't necessary.

That isn't true, and I think you know it!

There isn't as much gun control in the US as you would like, nor in fact as much as I would like, but that doesn't mean there is "no gun control".
