Re: Refuse to Vaccinate Your Child? Global Crackdown
End thread
But yeah, it's nothing to do with vaccinations. The only reason there appears to be more cases of autism now than, say, the late 1960s is refinements in the definitions of what autism is. There were just as many autistic kids in the past, we just didn't know they were autistic, or perhaps more correctly we didn't recognise them as being so.
I'm 100% in favor of a crackdown on parents who refuse to vaccinate their children. In the most simple terms, it's child abuse and there should be appropriate punishments.
Even if there was a link to autism (which there categorically isn't), saying you'd rather risk the chance of your child dying of measles than being on the spectrum is ****ing disgusting.

I can't see Pneumovax in that list? You know the one that prevents old people from dying from pneumonia, although maybe that's a population / pension management thing.

I abhor language like this: "a crackdown". It's shows the statist mindset

It is not a mandatory vaccine. You only receive it once every 5 years. And it isn't just for old people but for anyone who has a compromised immunity system or a disease such as diabetes.

I don't know why they would give you pneumococcal every five years unless it's just to make more money, it's once and for life over the age of 40 in the uk.

Yep the manufacturers agree with me, the original injection was one off now it's a 2 stage injection process which is then for life. https://www.merckvaccines.com/Produc...d-older-adults

Actually I heard something interesting about it a few years back, in the UK the NHS purchased 65 million doses over 5 years, and I believe the cost was around 25 or £30 per user but I understand America is significantly more expensive?

So? All drugs are more expensive in the US for numerous reasons. Many Americans order their drugs from Canada which are drugs sent from the US to Canada.

Wal-Mart generic's for example.
Lovastatin 20mg tab $4 for 30 day supply in the US. Near me the average price is between 0.53 and 0.56 per pill, so around 15.90 for 30 pills (assuming once per day) + a dispensing fee that can be as high as $10 a prescription.
Ranitidine 150mg $4/30 days in US vs 8/30 days near me + dispensing fee making it closer to $20-$25.
Name brands can be cheaper for sure, but generics of many meds tend to be cheaper in the US.

If it wasn't for generics, I'd be ****ed (not really , because I'd probably stroke out as my blood pressure hits 240/200, while in crippling agony from my gouty feet and knees ...)

Well, statism is the "in" thing, these days. Who knows better how to bring up children - parents or salaried bureaucrats? Parents allow bureaucrats to educate their children, so why not defer to them in respect of medication too? It apparently works: it's why everybody is so well-educated and healthy these days, right? No ignorance, no obesity, no autism, no depression... Can't argue with success!
