It wasn't really, because that's what your 20s self as he was then would probably have thought

I don't think any of us do. My wife's even luckier - she's (just a bit) older than me and barely even looks 30.

I didn't have my first kid until early 40's , sometimes I wish I had been younger, but they are a bind like pets except you cant just stick them in kennels. It's probably easier if you have family support nearby. Just going out to eat is quite an ordeal sometimes. Find a baby sitter, coordinate, hope they don't let you down.

Would have been better in the good old days of course, when you could send them out to work.

I guess the advent of smokeless fuel saw a decline in job opportunities for the small-yet-able-bodied.

They still actually advertise chimney sweepers around here though, my guess is older houses and/or hipsters moving into the area and using retro fireplaces 'ironically'.

I don't think wood is classed as smokeless fuel. Though my new stove doesn't produce much smoke when it gets up to temperature.

Pet peeve: lash intensity mascaras. I have a FB friend who hawks Mary Kay cosmetics and she's forever banging on about how wonderful their mascara is. Several friends were hawking Younique when that was the latest fad. Why on earth would anyone actually want their eyelashes to look like gigantic hairy caterpillars?

These are her customers, showing off one eye with and one eye without. Does anyone think they look good?

When I look at that picture all I can hear in my head is "There was me, that is Alex ..."

Other than that, meh.

My wife looks young as well, people usually think I am older then I am and think she is younger.

No. They look ridiculous.

This is part of the problem with this 'small-screen' world that we live in. Some of those photos look attractive but they're tiny pictures. People (women and girls to be specific) sometimes see things on their screens that don't work so well in real life. I've come across these eyelashes IRL and it's difficult to tear your eyes away from them and not in a good way. I feel the need to scaffold.

Aye, that's the way. Of course I smoked like a train and got by on about 4 hours sleep a night through my early 20s, so I only have myself to blame there

That makes sense. Sun damage wasn't so much of a problem for me back in the UK ...

Nor my wife in BC.

I could have helped a bit and wore sun screen on a daily basis, but late teens/early 20's, good decisions are not always made..

I've often wondered why women are so obsessed with having long thick eyelashes. If you ask men about the top physical things they look for in a woman, I doubt eyelashes would even make the top 25. I am baffled by why they want them curled too, surely that makes them look shorter.

The over-emphasized Clockwork Orange style eyelashes like the ones in that picture are really distracting as well, to the point where they end up making the eyes look worse, which is the opposite of the desired effect.

Likewise really long fingernails. More meh, IMO.
