Yeah, but you and a I both know why he's keeping his head down and not risking taking a public position either way. Why Christie has stuck his neck out is more of a mystery.

For Christie and Como, they thought they were covering their asses but the quarantine of the nurse was handled so badly in New Jersey that it makes Christie look inept. Then Christie doubled down to make himself look even worse to many Americans.

I guess the administration needs a better strategy to spread the disease then.

Here's an article from the Mail and Guardian citing a reason I didn't consider about why Liberia, Sierra leone and Guinea were hard hit by ebola

Well yes but you would think that someone with Ebola would fair better in a hospital with the best doctors etc. Not your local cottage hospital, good as it is.

That's alright then, it hasn't happened before so we needn't bother about the future. This outbreak is one of the worse, if not the worse, there has been. I would much rather we take some over the top precautions, than have to deal with an outbreak here. Knowing I had to spend three weeks in quarantine when I got back wouldn't stop me going. You just plan for it.

Maybe there is a good reason we haven't seen this happen? Like the fact that asymptomatic people are not infectious, for example? If that weren't the case, we would have presumably already seen this disease spread all over the place.

Really, nobody cared about returning health workers until panic ensued after the first ebola case here.

Strange that the news that "Spanish Intelligence Intercepts Plot to Weaponise Ebola" has been around for a couple of days but only the right wing rags seem to know about it.

I'm sure more reliable sources such as Russ Limbaugh will pick up on the story tomorrow.

Trials of the Ebola vaccine started today in Switzerland. CNN showed a young attractive Swiss girl (about 20 years old) getting the vaccine. In my opinion, she's real gutsy and is putting herself at far greater risk than the chance of ever contracting Ebola.

What most surprised the lab was the number of volunteers which far exceeded the 120 that they wanted for the first trial.

Well Milwaukie Oregon is just a suburb of Portland surrounded by other suburbs. Not too remote.
Sorry Lansbury, a fine suburb it is, I actually have a friend who lives there

There are other diseases endemic in Liberia that start off with a fever. Malaria and typhoid for example. D&V from cholera and dysentery. And as the article says, she could even have the flu or any other 'normal' illness that starts with a fever. I'm glad the patient is being treated, sounds like appropriate cautions are being taken and hope she's ok.

Ebola Jihad? Clever way to consolidate all that foreigner-fear into one easy package.
