1. You run the risk of being deported if INS finds out that the marriage is not for
"love". It is technically against the law to marry for convenience sake and try to
adjust status on that.
2. It might take longer at a few offices, see this page for current AOS times at
various INS offices: http://members.aol.com/MDUdall/instimes.htm
3. This is a hard enough process when you love each other, moreso when you don't.
Fraud is something you do not want to be accused of. Give this very hard thought
before proceeding.

I married the first one at 19 and by the time I was 21 I was raising my son on my on.
The second one was 10 yrs younger than me and at the time it seemed like a good
idea...LOL At least Dennis and I were born in the same decade and remember things as
they happened and not as a lesson in history class. It's like saying "Where were you
when JFK was killed...my ex wasnt even a thought yet and I was in Grade 1.

I'm not really here - it's just your warped imagination.

$250,000 is the maximum fine.

On the subject of "fraud" ... if the couple are a genuine couple but wouldn't
normally have any plans to marry but just do so because that's the only way one of
them can immigrate and they can stay together, obviously that's fine although they
should dwell on the being together part and leave the wouldn't marry except that
immigration law demands it part at the AOS interview.

It sounds from the post that this is more likely the case though it's equally likely
that it's just not phrased very well!

Andy.

Marriage fraud is a serious offense and you and this British national will be
seriously punished. On top of that you will affect those of us truly wanting to marry
someone from another country. To post on this newsgroup was dumb. You know that we
are here for legitimate marriage questions, not looking to defraud the system or play
with it. I am quite disturbed that you would jeopardize your US status and their
British status for just a green card. Some of us could care less about the green
card, all we want is to be able to love and live with the one we love. Piss off !!

Yes, I'm shocked to see the number of first world males marrying our women to get a
green card.

Default people, people

F (38)USA
F (39) German citizen

M: German Citizen, 33
N: USC, 27

F (29) - USC (originally Ukraine)
F (30) - Belarus

F (27) - USC
F (28) - UK

F(31)-Indian
F(32) -USC

People, people, what the heck is *that* all about!! ;-)
Just so you know:

M= Male
F= Female

what the heck is N??

From the looks of things we have some lesbian couples here. I wasn't aware the INS was allowing immigration based on same sex relationships these days? Actually I would probably argue that they should...but that's a whole other issue. ;-)
Meanwhile, if you want to keep this poll going, please be sure to post with the correct abbreviations above, if you are using abbreviations.

Thanks- amateur pollster Beth
