the only thing we have in WA is AOW, which is "Any Other weapon" but no SBR aka Short Barreled Rifles
Gun ownership varies a lot from State to State. I'm sure SBR are not legal in Illinois

I know one person who has the Federal License needed to have an 'Assault Rifle', he does not have one as they are horribly expensive. And for those reasons not used in these activities.

The only fully automatic weapons it is legal to own must have been manufactured before May 1986. The tax stamp that came with the transfer of the weapon must be kept with it at all times.
If you allow anyone to fire it, you must be physically with them at all times, unless you have formed a trust to hold ownership of the gun, in which case named beneficiaries of the trust can carry and fire the gun.
You need to give prior notice to the Federal Government to be allowed to move it across state lines for any purpose.
