Re: How to move to america when better!!
In the alternative universe where I live it's a rare week when 1-3 women don't tell this kid from Sheffield that they "just luurve" his accent.

To be honest I get no mentions of my Barnsley accent. I wonder why
Only thing I get is ridicule from my co-workers for being another Brit in the office (there is now 3 of us).

A former boss told me that his husband had commented (favourably) on my accent ..... "You never told me he had a accent!"

The London accent seems to be mistaken for Australian. I get it a lot. I also, on rarer occasions, get South African!
It's actually fun working on the phone as I do, offering phone/tablet/watch support for a major player in the game. People are convinced they are calling the UK or some other foreign country and most ask where I am. When I say 'Georgia', they sometimes seem mildly disappointed!

Also some of the senior partners in London were jealous of her boss, wanting to know how he got an American secretary! His explanation that "she just walked in" didn't help!

My wife took a part time job in an American steakhouse while waiting to get an office based position. She got a lot of comments that she "should work at Outback" as her accent was "Australian".
It didn't go down well...

Funny story (I think!)...
I was at a wedding reception for a work colleague some years ago when a young child came up to me and asked "Are you Australian?".
Without a second thought, I replied "Y'know, the last person to ask me that is buried in my front yard?".
He ran away crying! A few minutes later his mum came and asked me what happened and we had a good laugh about it.
On reflection, perhaps not the best thing to say to an eight-year-old!

I get very few comments on my accent these days. I am wondering if I now have a nondescript UK/US accent. Hopefully people can understand my accent when I visit the UK.
People would ask where am I from, and then they would ask my wife where she was from, and she's a local. I guess now a local with a British twist.
