New Top Gear Hosts?

New Top Gear Hosts?
Well, the speculation is that the following will be the new hosts of Top Gear - Jodie Kidd, Phillip Glennister and Guy Martin.

They really need to change the name of the show, because it WON'T be Top Gear. I suspect it'll struggle to get out of first!

Top Gear went through a revamp once before, so no reason why it wouldn't survive another. To be honest, it was long overdue for some different faces and new ideas anyway.

It went through a revamp for a reason!
ANything else will just be a motoring show and will not have the same chemistry as before, ergo it won't be as successful.
...and that's without accounting for the numbers that will boycott it.

It won't be a surprise to anyone if it's less successful as that bubble was always going to burst at some point anyway. As for it being a motoring show, well good. Part of the problem with TG was that it had become more about the presenters and less about the content, to the point that what little content there was left had begun to feel cheap, tired and overly contrived. This is a chance for the BBC to reposition the show back where it belongs.

I have loved the show over the years but freely admit that I wont be giving the "new" one even a single glance.

Phillip Glennister was brilliant as Gene Hunt. His show For The Love Of Cars is pretty good too. However, the only way he would fit in to TG is if they went back to 80's TG. He isn't exactly a barrel of laughs.
Jodie Kidd, I like her, she's a petrol head but again, not really TG material.
Guy Martin, what petrol head doesn't like Guy Martin. But again, can't see him fitting into the TG role. As far as I concerned, they may as well get those 3 chumps from USA TG in, the show's screwed anyway!

The "problem" that the BBC has is that the Top Gear presenters have not disappeared, and by all accounts are working on a new show, so it's not so much a question of whether the "new Top Gear" can succeed, but can it succeed going head to head with the Wilman-Clarkson show? I know where I would bet ..... you only have to look at what happened the last time they fired JC from Top Gear.
Please try to keep up. Everyone who loves Top Gear sees that as the problem, not an "improvement."

I think it's refreshing they are thinking of a woman host. Women drive too apparently.
I'll give it a watch if/when it comes back. No need to completely dismiss it before it has aired.

Re: New Top Gear Hosts?
I think we all know the answer to that one ...
If the BBC want to have another motoring magazine show, then just reunite Tiff Nedell, Quentin Wilson and Vicky Butler-Henderson and have them review Vauxhall estate cars and affordable Fords for 45 minutes once a week and be done with it.
Let's be honest, whatever 'new' version of TG they come up with is going to be shit. Change is, nine times out of ten, always utterly rubbish.
