Default New research suggests half a glass of wine a day increases risk of Dementia.

According to Oxford and Cardiff University : half a glass of wine a day increases risk of dementia. Yes, the article is from the Daily Fail. Haven't found said news in respectable news sources, yet.

Can you even believe what 'research' says is good or bad, regarding foods?
Over the decades, I have noticed the news stating such and such food is good for you. Then a few years later it is bad for you. Then it is good for you. I remember years back moderate wine drinking was touted as good for you. Mom's close relatives are GP's in England and they drink wine everyday during meals, claiming it is good for you.

Oh dear I drink six times the daily dosage that the Daily Mail article says can raise the risk of dementia. And I regard myself as a moderate drinker! What should I do?

How much more do you have to drink to avoid the risk?

I'd better stick to rum then to avoid this. Now where did I put my car keys and why have I still got my PJ bottoms on as I'm about to go out of the door for work?

Fortunately I am a Beer drinker and my wine consumption is nothing like that much.

I have found a few nice reds in Costco however.

If there isn't a recent study warning about the daily intake of beer, there will be one soon enough.

Yet another piece of crap coming from the glass half full brigade.

Of course it can result in raised risk of dementia - everyone goes mad wondering where the next half glass is coming from - and then some.

Social media is a major culprit. People just see a FB (or whatever) post and re-post it without thinking. The number of wacky remedies I get in my feed daily is depressing (maybe root of Bilbobaggins will help?).

On a related note I had a post just yesterday about something happening on Feb 29th 2018, re-posted/shared/liked by thousands. Called out the person that caused it to be shown on my timeline and they deleted my post.

It's positive spin week for beer. Warnings come next week.

I suspect the release of all these "conclusions" closely mirrors the renewal of grant cycle.

That article is referencing a US study, not the Oxford and Cardiff Uni. study the Mail is claiming as its source. Haven't found any respectable publication mentioning the Oxford and Cardiff study , yet.

There is this paper from Oxford and UCL published in 2017, claiming even moderate drinking leads to cognitive damage.

Somebody needs to tell Pulaski because he's all like, "Weed gives you brain damage but alcohol make you smarter."

And I'm all like . . .
