Nettie's Road Trip, May 2010
Thought I'd just post some of my photographs as we go along.
Started from Spokane this morning, and the first stop was in Haugan, MT, to visit the truly tacky and wonderfully cheesy $50,000 Silver Dollar Bar:
There is enough tourist tat in this place to choke a thousand horses.
We caught our first glimpse of the Rockies, just to the west of Dixon, MT:
Next stop was the outstandingly bizarre Miracle of America Museum. This has a ton of old stuff, mainly WWII-era, but a fair bit earlier and later. Out back, they are "reconstructing" a settlers' town. The overall feeling of the place is slightly insane, and it isn't so much a museum as an agglomeration of random pieces of Americana. This is a "found art sculpture" that caught my eye:
We're staying tonight at Mountain Lake Lodge, just south of Bigfork, MT.
This is an Osprey that was flying around earlier this afternoon:
We found out this afternoon that Logan Pass is still under 27' of snow, so we shan't get up to the Continental Divide, but we're still looking forward to our next three days in Glacier NP.
More later...

No internet connection for the last three days. A pain, but good too.
Couple more pics, but not a lot of time tonight: more to follow...

What kind of critter is that in the first picture? I can't make it out.
