Cheap assed Plasic windows, well untill I went to price a new one at $300 !
$300?!

I'm gonna leave it until Winter has passed, seems stupid to get it replaced when there's so much crap on the roads here and it'll just happen again. Still bloody annoying.

GTI needs a 20k oil change, as I'm lazy I thought I'd inquire how much it would be at the main dealers... $350 Looks like I'll be doing it myself this weekend for the low low cost of $74

Yep, always did my own oil changes.
Suck the stuff up out of the dipstic tube. Then drop the used oil at Walmart for them to dispose of.

Wtf? $350 for an oil change on a GTI? I want to say my oil changes aren't worth more then $70 on my Focus ST. (I bought a prepaid maintenance package so they are all included, but I can see the total value on the bill)

Yeah it’s insane. It’ll take me about 20 minutes to do, so in theory it should take them less than that so I have no idea where they pulled that price from.

On another note I saw that the Grand Tour episode this week (seems to be available from about 7pm Thursday for us?) is in Colorado, a cheap car challenge with three jaguars. Really excited to see a cheap car challenge again and also excited as I live in CO so it’ll be interesting to see where they go!

I was going to say? When I lived in the States it was a jiffy-lube job, 10 minutes in and out and $30-odd bucks.

I was wondering about that. The Mini is all covered so I don't pay, but prior to that the Miata was 27 bucks (Main Dealer).

I didn't even ask for a breakdown on the cost I pretty much said thanks and goodbye when he said that price.

I got an entire servicing kit from one of the VW enthusiast sites for $74. I'll probably do it today as I'm working from home and it isn't too cold.

11F outside, at least the wind has died down. Going to wait before I walk the pup. He gets super bouncy in this weather.

I always liked Oil Can Henry in Longmont.

11F for you up in Steamboat?

It's about 17F here at the moment but no wind. By lunchtime it should be high 30's low 40's so that'll be fine.

I do have to do it on the street though, can't wait to piss my neighbor (the one that sucks) off

I am not in Steamboat, should be in Boulder tomorrow.

Last time I went to Steamboat must be 5 years ago.

Ah I thought you were mountain folk

Just read a hilarious debate on one of the GTI forums with someone arguing that you should always do your oil change with the engine cold what is wrong with some people!

Never thought of Steamboat being in the Mountains but I do live a lot higher than Steamboat.

Conventional v synthetic oil? That's the big difference in cost, plus another $5-10 disposal fee.

Local WallyWorld does

Basic $20
Normal $30
Semi Synthetic $40
Full Synthetic $50

Plus sales tax

Could actually do with a few gallons of used oil...
