Let's talk about cars

Re: Let's talk about cars
The best shape my TR7 was in was a small cube after they got done with crushing the horrid POS.
I've done Midgets and a Spitfire, and currently have an MX-5 but what I would LOVE one day is a TR6.
I would also like a Frog Eyed Sprite, but I'm not sure how that would cope with the highways (it's basically a Midget).

I love my MX-5 Probably the most fun you can have in a modern sports car without taking out a mortgage.

We had to sell hubbys MBG GT project car when we left Alaska, since arriving here he is once again on the hunt for a project car, so far we've looked at an Alfa Romeo Spider which is a possibility, also my son owns a 1973 mini which he left in storage when he ran off to Ireland, we are working on liberating it and giving it a new life.
Myself ... I still have my 1984 Mercedes 380SL, shes an absolute dream to drive for a 29 year old car the paintwork and the engine are both in great condition, the seats have faded a bit but she can still lay down the vaavoooom when you press that pedal.

That '73 Mini sounds promising.. You can do a LOT with that.
[Edit] Just looked at the pic. That is a pretty car.

MX5s are great. The one I had in the UK had over 100,000 miles on it and just kept going and going. Would love to pick up another one here but the equivalent age/spec/mileage to my old one (750 quid in the UK) seem to go for 5k here. I loved that car

I'm sure it's state specific, but certainly here in CA, used cars are astronomical in price. I've just bought a 2005 Mazda 3 with 80k on the clock for 10 grand (including the taxes)

Re: Let's talk about cars
Didnt Triumph suffer due to poor build and quality issues ?
The Mazda MX-5 is a hairdressers card.
My ideal 80's sports car would be one of these. This one is a 1985 in excellent condition for $42k, it has 35k miles on it. I was very tempted
I've seen some around for as low as $35k.
