We had a verse we used to say about Latin. I'm sure others know it too....

Latin is a language,
As dead as dead can be.
It killed the ancient Romans
And now it's killing me!
It was inscribed in my copies of Civus Romanus and Mentor, and (apart from how to conjugate amo and bellum) is about the only thing I can instantly recall from three years of Latin.

Doing as well as me then and I did four! I remember the odd word like agricola - farmer, puer - boy and vacca - cow.

All I can add to this thread was I was also forced to go to Latin classes and all I can remember is Ecce un puella sont abore (apologies in advance if the spelling is atrocious).

As I recall that translates to look there is a girl sitting under a tree.

Also Semper Fi. Movies taught me that one. Also Video games.

well everyone knows puer, well if they have watched the Carry On movies, where as one pulchitrudinous young woman walks past, Sid James goes Oh puer, Oh puer, Oh puer.
